मंज़िल है, मैं

This song
likhe jo Khatt tuje is song from movie “Kanyadaan”. My analysis of this poem
according to the applicable rules of I.A.Richards’ figurative use of Language
like below.
The first
two lines,
लिखे जो खत
तुझे, वो तेरी
याद में
हज़ारो रंग के
नज़ारे बन गये
Lover talks
about those letters which he wrote to his beloved, and in her regards they
turned into different sceneries. If we focus on the depth of the wordings, it
leads listeners to the heights of imaginations of poet. But technically it
seems impossible to happen.
सवेरा जब हुआ,
तो फूल बन
गये
जो रात आई
तो सितारें बन
गये
In further two
lines he includes that at morning they (letters) became flowers, if then night
came they turned into stars. Technically it is not possible that letters turn
into different sceneries like flowers and stars.
कोई नग्मा कहीं गूंजा,
कहा दिल ने
ये तू आई
कहीं चटकी कली
कोई, मैं ये
समझा तू शरमाई
कोई खुशबू कहीं बिखरी,
लगा ये जुल्फ
लहराई
In second
stanza, he compares ‘song’ with his beloved’s arrival then he compares her
shyly with blossom. Moreover he compares some unknown fragment with her open
hair. Here we find similes.
फ़िज़ा रंगीन, अदा रंगीन
ये इठलाना, ये
शरमाना
ये अंगड़ाई, ये तनहाई,
ये तरसाकर चले
जाना
बना देगा नहीं
किस को, जवां
जादू ये दीवाना
In above third
stanza, poet describes the beauty of his beloved that how she teas him, then
she timidly makes distance with him. This kind of lovers’ act makes weather
colorful and beautiful. It makes ‘one’ young and makes him feel young.
जहाँ तू है,
वहाँ मैं हूँ,
मेरे दिल की
तू धड़कन है
मुसाफिर मैं तू
मंज़िल है, मैं
प्यासा हूँ तू
सावन है
मेरी दुनिया ये नज़रें
हैं, मेरी जन्नत
ये दामन है
In above last stanza, poet explains that he would be found
where his beloved would be. He is traveler whereas she is the final
destination, his whole world is her eyes and his paradise is her shelter
(dupatta) (in literary context). This shows absurd thoughts that one can
express or perhaps feel but cannot go on with it.

Though it has some faults, it has something
which leads listener to a imaginary world that crated by one lover in honor to
his beloved. And moreover in movie it acted by Sashi Kapoor and Asha Parekh;
who makes it alive with their expressions. Thus, Imagination speaks a lot from
the poet’s mouthpiece.
